Speaking of running I've decided to rejoin the running group I used to go with on a Wednesday evening. I know the deepest darkest depths of Autumn is not the ideal time to start up again, but I've missed them and I've also realised that I've spent a lot of the last few weeks returning home and sitting in front of the TV. Nothing wrong with that. I do a lot of running, biking and working and need my downtime, but I also realised I'm not interacting with people outside of work. So I'm going to rectify that and meet up with my friends again.
Reading wise I'm halfway through "Splinter of the Mind's Eye", which is the "original" sequel to Star Wars, which had the option of being turned into a low budget film sequel if Star Wars hadn't done so well. It's a fascinating read, but I just have to keep remembering that in this version of the Star Wars universe Luke and Leia are NOT brother and sister...
And speaking of books I found a copy of the Doctor Who book "Touched By An Angel" in a charity shop on Thursday. It was only £1 and it's meant to be a good read. I'm not exactly going out of my way to pick up the NSA's, but if I see them in the wild I'll grab them. I also want to get back into reading Tom Cox's stuff. I got "Villager" from a second hand book shop in Glasgow and I've read "Help The Witch" before. And now we're entering the back end of the year his books and writing just seems very appropriate. His writing fascinates me.
The other big news is that poor old Patrick Stewart passed away. I'm feeling immensely sad about this. Yes, I didn’t know Patrick, and yes, Picard is a fictional character, but he was someone I looked up to throughout my childhood, teenage years, and adulthood. Even now, I still think to myself, 'What would Picard do?' He was my hero. RIP, Sir. Getting older seems to be watching your childhood heroes pass away...
And here's a misty photo taken at 4am. Until next time!
